Python Code Review Service

Recently I analyzed my OpenHub profile which I try to keep up-to-date with all contributions I have made to the different open source projects over the years. I was amazed that it has already been 15 years since my first commit to an open source project. Many commits and involvements to different projects have followed like becoming the main maintainer of Django REST framework JSON:API project or creating the Diodon Clipboard Manager to only mention two.

Open Hub profile for Oliver Sauder

During those years I have worked in several software engineering teams and reviewed loads of different pull requests and had lots of sessions and discussion how a project respectively its code can be improved. I was wondering how could I use this experience and combine it with the compassion for open source? So I stumbled upon the Fiverr platform, a place to offer or find freelance services. I have decided that I want to offer a Python Code Review service there and hopefully through this support be able to continue or strengthen my involvement in various open source projects.

So if you are curious and you have a Python project you would like to to review, check out my gigs below.

New but old and what changes for our CleverCleaner users

I have finally made it to migrate from my old webhosting provider to a new one. Nothing really to bother you about it but I am actually quite excited about my new webhosting and the many possibilities it gives me – so if you are looking for a new webhoster yourself you might want to have a look here .

While I was in the migration process have I changed a couple of thing which might be noteworthy. For all readers of “The Esite Code Log”-Blog, nothing has really changed for you though, beside a new look and feel. The blog and its philosophy remains the same as before. You can read more about it here.

More has changed for our CleverCleaner users though. Up to this point I maintained a single blog only for the CleverCleaner project. For simplicity and maintenance reasons have I decided though to consolidate the CleverCleaner blog with The Esite Code Log. So CleverCleaner is now treated as any other open source project I am involved in such as Diodon. This means there will be no more German translation of my blog posts for CleverCleaner (of course the German translation of the CleverCleaner tool itself remains as before) and all blog posts respectively news concerning CleverCleaner are tagged with clevercleaner on this blog.

So if as before you just want to subscribe to CleverCleaner news per RSS you can use this feed (just as a side node you can also use the same link and replace tag name clevercleaner with whatever tag you want to subscribe to, quite handy…). Beside news for CleverCleaner have I moved all more in depth descriptions and support information to the SourceForge project side mainly its wiki.

As it has been pretty quiet on this blog for a while do I hope that this change will decrease the time I need for maintenance and actually gives me more time to program on the different open source projects and in the end be able to post about it here… 😉

So therefore stay tuned.

Blog merger with code.esite.ch

The esite.ch and code.esite.ch blogs have been existing side by side for quite a while. esite.ch for mainly the purpose of posting about some projects I’m involved, code.esite.ch more like a knowledge base for developers. However, there has always been a very fine line between those two. So after all, I have decided to merge those two blogs into esite.ch.

But no worries. For the purpose if someone wants to only read about a specific project or only the knowledge base I have reorganized all posts in categories and tags.

New are there only three categories called General, Knowledge Base and Projects whereas all posts which had usually been posted on code.esite.ch are now available in the knowledge base category.

Furthermore are now tags added to all posts. Read the WordPress Feed Guide if you only want to subscribe to a single tag or category.

Hope this readjustment will help you find or subscribe to the posts you really want to get informed about. Let me know when you have any comments.

A new age

The frequency of posts has been pretty low in the last few months. However, there are many exciting things going on around esite.ch so I hope to get around more often to leave one or another message here.

To accomplish this it is important to me that this blog gains more focus. Therefore I have decided to change a couple of things. Firstly, you propperly already noticed, I have changed the new look and feel to the new wordpress theme ;). Secondly have I moved the blog to esite.ch. blog.esite.ch is still available but just redirects to esite.ch.

To reach a wider audience all future posts will be in English. However, all old posts will remain in German.

So I hope you like the changes and will see you around ;).

The Esite Code Log
